Pedro Vorster

Born 1952 in Grootfontein, Namibia

Mostly oil paintings, also watercolours, pastel paintings and photographic works. Subject matters: people, landscapes and reflections on society.

Pedro Vorster experimented with different styles: cubism, fauvism and abstract art. Sources of inspiration were the surrealist paintings of Alexis Preller, and the colour shadings of Nico Roos. Vorster tries to capture the absurdities of life and society in partly abstract shapes.

1980 Degree Bachelor of Arts at the University of Pretoria, Vorster became in 1984 – 1990 art critic and art editor at the Windhoek Observer. 1993 – 1994 President of the Art & Craft Guild of Namibia.

Participated in several group exhibitions in Namibia and South Africa.
