Eloff, Zacharias ( Zakkie )

Born in the Waterberg District. – Worked in ink, watercolor and oil as well as graphic works; subject matter: wildlife
Studied art at Pretoria Boys’ High School under Walter Battiss and at Wits Tech Art School under Maurice van Essche and Phyllis Gardner. Advanced studies 1957 in London at the Central School and graphic techniques in various European Centre’s. On his return he lectured at the Pretoria Technicon, but as a man of the veld, he returned to Namibia and became a game warden at Etosha. His paintings reflect his absorption of the wildlife in the veld.

When a fire destroyed most of his belongings, he settled 1968 in White River, Mpumalanga, South Africa.

Solo – Exhibitions:

He participated in group exhibitions from 1942 in SWA/Namibia, SA, the UK, Spain, Israel, Argentine, Australia and at Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1961; 1953 Pretoria, first of several solo exhibitions; 1987 University of Pretoria, joint Retrospective Exhibition with Rene Eloff
