About the Artist

Ernst Rohe

1947 –   Windhoek

Works in watercolor and acryl, graphic works, known as a keen photographer; subject matter: landscapes and wildlife


During his formative years as an artist, he received private tutorial classes by Professor Otto Schroeder. These lessons taught him to become an astute observer not only for landscapes but also for animals and plants occurring there.

Studied art also at Ecole ABC de Paris in 1968. Further studies 1969 at Hamburger Fern – Institute, Germany in drawing and graphic design, followed by studies at Cape Technical College in 1973 under Jan Vermeiren in litho printing and commercial art.

Basic Course in television production and communication design in 1985.

His international training and many years of experience as a working commercial artist in South Africa included all aspects of graphic arts, from photography, stained – glass windows to advertising.

Lives in Usakos since 1998
